Warning Against Following One’s Desires, a lecture by Shaykh Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullāh)
- Going through a khuṭbah of Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (hafidhahullāh) on the danger of following desires
- Mankind was not created without purpose; every deed and word is recorded in a book and will be accounted for
- Whoever finds good should praise Allāh, and whoever finds otherwise should blame none but himself
- Every heart has desires that pull it in different directions; the harm comes when desire is followed instead of the revealed guidance
- Examples of desire leading to neglect of obligations, such as laziness over the Fajr prayer
- Closing with the verse: “And do not follow desire, lest it lead you astray from the path of Allāh” (Ṣād 38:26)
